Mitchells Plain Shooting Today, Cape Town – Three Killed and Woman Seriously Injured in Late-Night Lentegeur Attack
MITCHELLS PLAIN, Cape Town — Three people have been killed and a woman seriously injured following a late-night shooting in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, as police continue searching for the gunmen responsible for the attack.
The shooting reportedly happened on Blombos Street late Wednesday night, where several armed suspects allegedly opened fire before fleeing the area. Two victims were found dead at the scene, while a third man who escaped the initial attack was later discovered dead on Eisleben Road.
A woman who was also wounded survived the shooting and was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Mitchells Plain Shooting Leaves Three Dead
According to police information provided about the incident, several armed men opened fire on the victims in the Lentegeur area.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the original shooting scene. Another man reportedly managed to flee from the attackers but was later found dead on Eisleben Road.
The discovery of the third victim meant investigators were dealing with evidence from more than one location as they attempted to reconstruct the events surrounding the shooting.
The surviving woman sustained serious injuries and remains an important part of the investigation as authorities work to establish exactly what happened.
Police Search for Four Armed Suspects
Police reportedly believe that four armed men were involved in the attack.
The suspects were allegedly travelling in a white Nissan Almera when the shooting occurred. After opening fire, the gunmen reportedly fled before officers could apprehend them.
No arrests had been announced in the information available about the incident.
Detectives are expected to examine witness statements, CCTV footage and other evidence that could help establish the suspects’ movements before and after the shooting.
Anti-Gang Unit Investigates Lentegeur Attack
The Anti-Gang Unit has taken over the investigation as authorities work to identify the people responsible and determine the circumstances that led to the violence.
Investigators are examining the possibility that the shooting may have been gang-related, although police have not conclusively established a motive.
The possibility of gang involvement therefore remains an investigative line rather than a confirmed explanation for the attack.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has called for swift action to identify and arrest those responsible.
