An international team of specialist cave divers, military personnel, rescuers and volunteers eventually worked together to bring all 13 people out safely.

Brown played an important supporting role during the operation. He transported air cylinders and other equipment through flooded passages, helped install and maintain guide lines, and supported the chain of divers working through the cave.
