Zachary Michael Paul Herron Obituary, Elloree, SC, Cause of Death: 26-Year-Old Dies in U.S. 301 Orangeburg County Crash
Zachary Michael Paul Herron, known affectionately as Zach, 26, of Elloree, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following a serious early-morning collision on U.S. Highway 301 in Orangeburg County.
According to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 301, also known as Five Chop Road, and Way Road. Herron was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro northbound when it collided with a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer that was attempting to turn south.
Herron was the only occupant of the Camaro and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver, who was also the vehicle’s sole occupant, was not injured.

Zachary is survived by his parents, James “Mike” Herron and Elizabeth Ulmer, his siblings, grandmother Nancy Herron, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ervin Herron.
